  • Notes
    • This history is passed down thru my great Aunt Pauline Pilkington Buck. She received it from Mae VanNest Jacobsen. There had been a shooting of a Indian and said that they would capture the first person that crossed the Wabash River would be captured. Lucy Sharp was the first white woman to ever cross the Wabash River. She did this on a dare and was captured by the Indians. The Potters had to give all their winter provisions to the Indians for her release.Lucy had followed the Potters from Virginia to Clinton,Indiana because she loved John Henry Potter. Linda Locke
