Celebrated Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Former Lake City People Hold Golden Wedding at Their Home in Wisconsin. Fifty years ago, last Saturday, Sept. 19, 1864, Miss Elizabeth Handshaw and Mr. John H. Longsdorf were united in marriage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fortenbaugh in Lake City ... Both Mr. and Mrs. Longsdorf had come west from Pennsylvania a short time before their marriage and they state it was a hard matter to find a clergyman in those times of war to marry them. After their marriage they lived in the town of Florence but a few miles from Lake City for many years until fourteen years ago when they moved to Pepin County, Wisconsin and settled on Columbia Heights in the town of Frankfort. Here they continued to prosper and at the present time are hale and hearty, though Mrs. Longsdorf is now 69 years of age and Mr. Longsdorf is 74 years. On Saturday with their children and grandchildren they celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Longsdorf four children. William of Columbia Heights, Mrs. L.C. Mason of this city, Frank Longsdorf at home, and Benj. Longsdorf of Lebanon, Oregon, all of whom except the latter were present at the home celebration. The former friends of this couple who are among the readers of the Graphic-Republican join us in hearty congratulations on this occasion.
