      Death of James Keller
      An Esteemed and Respected Holland Patent Man
      Holland Patent, June 7 - At his residence in Wethersfield, after an illness of over three months, at 7 o'clock am Saturday, occurred the death of James Keller, in his 77th year. His father was John Keller of Root, a farmer whose family consisted of his wife and six children, two sons and four daughters. The parents and children are all deceased except a duaghter, Mrs. Christina Mulholland of Viola, Minn. James Keller was born at Root, October 7, 1831. His father died in 1835, and James, now four years old, went to live with an uncle and aunt. At 11 years of age he went to Long Lake to reside. He grew up to be a carpenter and In later years he followed farming. In 1853 he married, at Lond Lake, to Miss Esther Seaman of Schroon Lake. They had four children, two sons and two daughters, all born at Long Lake. One daughter, Laura Keller, died at Long Lake. The surviving one, Mrs. Ezra Smith resided at Byron, Minn. Of his two sons, Charles A. Keller resides at Viola, Minn. and Frank F. Keller at Wematcjae, Wash. Mr Keller was converted at 10 years of age and united with the Protestant Methodist, and later the Wesleyan Methodist Church. On moving to Viola, Minn. he united with the M.E. Church. While living in the northern part of the state, Mr. Keller did much missionary work in sparsely settled places. Mr Keller was twice married. His second wife was Miss Maria Loomis of Wethersfield, whom he married November 13, 1897. Rev. R.H. Allen of Holland Patent, officiating. Mr. Keller united at once with the Presbyterian Church here. His value to society and the church was early appreciated, for he was soon elected an elder, which office he held continuously to life's close. Mr. Keller was a thoroughly good man, and was beloved both in and out of the church. He died strong in faith, and will be deeply missed from many a friendly circle. The funeral services will be held at the late residence in Wethersfield, Monday, at 10:30 am Rev. A. Barry officiating, in absence of Rev. C. Edward Fay. Interment will be made at Long Lake.

      Mrs Christina Mulholland, a well known pioneer resident of Viola, passed away Tuesday morming, Jan. 14, 1913, at the house of her daughter, Mrs. Alex Campbell. The deceased was born in Montgomery County, N.Y., May 7th, 1835. Her maiden name was Christina Keller. She was united in marriage to Andrew Mulholland, May 1, 1853. In the year 1856 she came with her family to Viiola and at this place resided up to the time of her death. Her husband died May 19, 1902. Eight children were born to this union, of whom seven survive the mother.
      James W. of St. Paul, Abram F. of Viola, Mrs. Mary Campbell of Viola, Riley H. of Buffalo, N.D., Andrew J. of Viola, Robert A. of Rochester, Cecil E. of Viola, and Mrs. Cora Swan deceased. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon in the United Brethern church of which she was a charter member, Rev. W. W. Vine officiating. He paid a fitting tribute to her as a mother, and an earnest Christian woman. Her six sons acted as pall bearers. Although of a quiet, retiring disposition Mrs. Mulholland will be missed by a host of friends in the community where she has so long resided.
